Google Pixel 8 Pro: Android Update Causes Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Issues (2026)

The recent Android update, Android 16 QPR3, has caused connectivity issues for Google Pixel 8 Pro users. The problem arises when the phone warms up to normal operating temperatures, causing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections to drop. This issue has been reported by multiple users and appears to be a low-level firmware bug rather than a hardware fault. The Tensor SoC, the processor inside the Pixel, may be throttling the Wi-Fi chip too aggressively at normal temperatures, according to one theory. However, cooling the phone on an ice pack can temporarily restore connectivity, which risks damaging the water resistance and causing condensation on the camera lens. This problem has been ongoing since the January 2026 update and has frustrated users who have contacted support, only to be told that the issue persists after a factory reset. The Pixel 8 Pro was released in October 2023 with a standard one-year manufacturer's warranty, but some regions may require an extended warranty. Google has not yet confirmed the cause of the malfunction, and users are left with a frustrating and unresolved issue.
