Sharing files between Android and iPhone is about to get a whole lot easier for Pixel 9 users! Google seems to be gearing up to bring AirDrop-like functionality to the Pixel 9 series through its Quick Share feature. This is exciting news, especially for those who frequently need to transfer files between their Android phones and iPhones.
Last year, the Pixel 10 series already gained the ability to share files with iPhones using Quick Share. Now, Google is expanding this feature to the older Pixel 9 lineup. A recent report indicates that the latest Android Canary build for the Pixel 9 series includes new system files specifically designed to enable Quick Share file transfers between Android and iOS devices.
But here's where it gets interesting: these crucial files are missing from the Pixel 9a and older Pixel 8 builds, according to the report. This suggests that Google hasn't yet started testing this feature on those devices.
When Google announced Quick Share's compatibility with Apple's AirDrop, they promised that older Pixel models and other Android phones would eventually receive support. It's great to see Google actively working to fulfill this promise and expand the feature's availability.
And this is the part most people miss: the rollout of this feature to the Pixel 9 series could coincide with the Android 16 QPR3 build, or potentially arrive in a future stable update.
What do you think? Will this feature make your life easier? Do you think Google should have prioritized older Pixel models first? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
