NUP's Grassroots Revolution: Taking Mityana by Storm (2026)

The race is on! The National Unity Platform (NUP) is making a bold move in Mityana District, gearing up for the 2026 general elections with a laser focus: to win every single parliamentary seat. This is no small feat, and it's a testament to their determination.

Spearheaded by key figures like Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake Butebi, the party is hitting the ground running, especially in Mityana South. Their strategy? Deepening their roots within the villages, unifying party structures, and rallying voters behind their chosen candidates, like Kevin Nalwoga in Mityana South.

Zaake is emphasizing the importance of unity, recognizing that internal squabbles could seriously undermine their chances in the fiercely competitive 2026 race. He's clear: a coordinated effort at the grassroots level is absolutely crucial for success.

"We're a united front," Zaake stated. "Our goal is clear: Mityana should deliver all its parliamentary seats to NUP in 2026. Mobilization at the village level is the backbone of this strategy.”

They're not just making speeches; they're actively engaging with the community. Their team is visiting community leaders, youth groups, and local supporters, urging residents to back candidates based on their competence, vision, and dedication to the community.

One person benefiting from this push is Prossy Mukisa, also known as Nabbosa, who's aiming to become the Woman Member of Parliament for Mityana District. She sees the visit by top party leaders as a huge boost.

"This visit is a strong sign that NUP is more organised and united than ever before," Nabbosa said. "We are working hand in hand to ensure that the people of Mityana get leaders who genuinely represent their interests.”

She's also emphasizing community engagement, promising to prioritize service delivery, inclusion, and youth empowerment if elected.

But here's where it gets interesting... The increased activity from NUP comes as competition heats up in Mityana South. Both the ruling party and other opposition groups are also stepping up their outreach efforts. NUP's leaders are focusing on strengthening mobilization committees, training polling agents, and addressing any internal issues to ensure a smooth campaign.

As the campaign season intensifies, Mityana is expected to be one of the most closely watched areas in Buganda. NUP is banking on its grassroots strategy to deliver a sweeping victory in 2026.

What do you think? Do you believe NUP's strategy is the right approach? Will their focus on grassroots mobilization pay off? Share your thoughts in the comments – let's get a discussion going!
