A stunning light streak across the western sky near Phoenix could be a SpaceX launch.
PHOENIX — If you’re awake early on Wednesday (or still up late), you might catch a Falcon 9 rocket lighting up the dawn-lit horizon as it heads into orbit.
The mission aims to place 27 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit and is scheduled to lift off within a four-hour window that opens shortly before 1 a.m. on Wednesday.
When everything is ready, the Falcon 9 will blast off from Vandenberg Space Force Base, located in Santa Barbara County. Although Vandenberg is roughly 500 miles west of Phoenix, clear skies often allow Valley residents to spot the launch.
For the latest details on the start time, plus a livestream option if you’d rather watch from indoors, check the SpaceX website at spacex.com/launches as the window approaches.
If you miss this one, there’s another Starlink mission planned to launch from California late Friday or in the early hours of Saturday.
